Garden Design

Garden
In 1985, a newly completed garden for Christopher Cazenove and Angharrad Rees

My philosophy on garden design is much the same as that of the ancient chinese - "A walk around a garden should proove to be an exciting journey".

The first thing to establish is the "back bone" of the garden, in the form of vistas and avenues.

Secondly the "skeleton" - hedges, paths and trees.

Thirdly the "flesh" - the lawns and the borders, and finally the smaller details like choice of annuals and detail to colour schemes.

The wall surrounding Princess Margaret's garden was tall and dark. An arched mirror, flacked by Apollo and Diana, suggested that the garden continued on through into Hyde Park.
